Holy Week and Easter Mass Schedule at OLP

All are welcome and invited to our celebration of Holy Week and Easter Masses during March 28-April 5, the most central and significant week of the entire year in our Catholic faith because it honors and celebrates the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, which allowed for all of us to be lifted up and raised to new life with him too!

PALM SUNDAY | MARCH 28-29

Mass on Saturday at 5PM  -and- Sunday at 7:30AM, 10:00AM, 12:00PM
Holy Week commemorates Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem, where he would soon eat the final Passover meal with his disciples and then begin his journey of the Cross. We all take palms for this Mass and raise them in the same way that the people of Jerusalem spread palms before Jesus as he entered the holy city.

Live Donkey in the Procession: The processions around the Church grounds prior to Mass at the Saturday evening and Sunday 10AM and 12PM will include a live donkey, remembering how Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey.

Rosary Society Bake Sale: Come on over to the Parish Hall after Masses on Palm Sunday weekend to pick up a tasty treat for Easter. We'll have pies and all kinds of delicious baked goods.

MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK | March 30

Tenebrae: Reflections in Scripture and Song: 8:00PM
All are invited to attend this yearly tradition of reflections on the Passion and death of Jesus through Scripture and music selections that invite us deeper into prayer as we begin Holy Week.

HOLY THURSDAY | April 2

The Mass of the Lord's Supper: 7:30PM
We celebrate this Mass with various rituals that remind us of the night of the Last Supper, including the Washing of the Feet, the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, and a time of Eucharistic exposition. This Mass begins the Holy Triduum, three solemn days commemorating the Passion of Jesus Christ. This Mass ends in solemn silence.

GOOD FRIDAY | April 3

The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ: 3:00PM
On this solemn day, we honor the passion and death of Jesus. The Good Friday service is technically not a Mass, although we still listen to God's Word in the readings, and the faithful may still receive Communion, which has been reserved in the tabernacle since Holy Thursday. This is a quiet and prayerful day of remembrance as we meditate on the sacrifice that Jesus made for us for our salvation.

HOLY SATURDAY | April 4

Easter Vigil Mass: 8:00PM
The whole Church gathers on the night before Easter Sunday to usher in the celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord. This Mass begins in darkness, followed by candlelight as we hear the story of salvation history through a selection of Scripture readings ranging from Genesis to the time of Jesus. Then we joyfully celebrate the sacraments of those who are entering full communion with the Church, through Baptism, Confirmation, and/or the Holy Eucharist. This Mass is full of beautiful and traditional rites and rituals that originate from the earliest days of the Church.

Blessing of the Easter Baskets: You are invited to bring your Easter baskets on the morning of Holy Saturday at 8:30 AM in the vestibule of the Church. No morning Mass will be held on this day, but the Church will be open for quiet personal prayer.

EASTER SUNDAY | April 5

Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord: 7:30AM, 10:00AM, 12:00PM
We joyfully celebrate the morning of Jesus' Resurrection.

Easter Egg Hunt: Children of the parish are invited to attend the annual Easter Egg Hunt on the parish lawn following the 10AM and 12PM Masses.
