Celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday: April 11-12

This weekend, we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. This feast day offers us a powerful reminder that no sin is too great for God’s forgiveness and love. Since being instituted by Pope John Paul II in 2000, it is always celebrated on the Sunday following Easter.

In the early 1900s, a young nun named Faustina received a message from Jesus to share about his Divine Mercy with the world. He gave her the image of Divine Mercy, with the inscription “Jesus, I trust in you,” which would remind people of the love and mercy he wants to pour out on us.

As we learn about Divine Mercy, we are also reminded that we are called to be Christ’s merciful hands and feet in our hurting world.

“Tell [all people], that I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other souls.” -Jesus to St. Faustina
