Join us for Mass at 7:00am, 12:10pm, 3:30pm (Prayer Service), or 7:30pm for the celebration of Ash Wednesday. This day marks the beginning of Lent, a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving as we prepare for the commemoration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Join us at OLP as we begin this season as a parish community and seek to draw closer to God through prayer, fasting, and giving.
As a reminder for all Catholics, the days of fasting and abstinence from meat are Ash Wednesday (March 5) and Good Friday (April 18). If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night to honor the suffering and death of Jesus. On the above fast days, no more than one full meal along with 2 smaller meals should be eaten. All Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from eating meat. These apply to Catholics in good health between age 18-59. A different sacrifice or prayerful practice may be made in place of fasting for those who are elderly, in poor health, pregnant, or otherwise have substantive reason to refrain from the practice of fasting.
